Wow as a parent myself I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult this was. The famous reality mom, Kate Gosselin, 41, revealed in a rare interview on GMA the ups and downs of parenting and the difficult decision to send her son Collin, 12 with special needs away. Video interview below.
“It was not even really a choice,” Kate said on Good Morning America on Nov. 21. “It was on the advice of his doctors and it had to happen.” As for how Collin’s doing? “He’s plodding along and we are, too, but it definitely was necessary,” Kate added. “I’ll go to the ends of the earth for the best for each one of them. This is the best thing I can do for him right now, and so that comforts me.”
Kate admitted that she is allowed to have contact with her son, but of course it’s “not the same as being at home.” She also addressed the rumors and reports that she abuses her kids. The reality star called these reports that her son told staffers at his treatment facility that was abused by her, “unfounded.”
She added: “I’m in the public eye. I have been investigated many times … It’s always unfounded obviously,” Kate said.
This difficult choice to send her son away is getting somewhat easier for the mom of 8. Kate realizes now that the program, is helping Collin “learn the skills he needs to be the best him he can be,” has been a help to everyone.
“This is all new to me, and to our family.”
Kate has always been very brave putting her life and kids out there. What do you think of all of this? Could you send your child away if it was needed?
