Harry Potter Fans Rejoice! Young Dumbledore Will Appear In ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel

Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them director David Yates confirmed that a younger version of Albus Dumbledore will appear in the film’s sequel, though it’s unclear who take the role previously filled by Michael Gambon and the late Richard Harris in the Harry Potter movies.

“In the second movie Dumbledore comes back,” Yates said. “He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt … We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good.”

  • The first in a batch of five movies set 70 years before Harry Potter was born, the film revolves around “Magizooligist” Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, who is out to collect rare magical beasts before they are discovered by No Majs (the American wizard term for Muggles.)
  • The saga has been billed by J.K. Rowling as “neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world.”
