“Who’s ready for the game tonight?” Brett Eldredge asks enthusiastically in a new video he shared today (Nov. 2) on Twitter.

The professed Chicago Cubs fan posted a snippet singing the “Go! Cubs! Go!” song on his acoustic guitar, before giving up strumming and instead using his instrument as a drum. His rendition sounds more soothing than invigorating, but his excitement about Game 7 tonight is palpable.

Eldredge doesn’t hail from Chicago specifically, but he was raised in Paris, Illinois, which lies south of the major metropolis. Speaking with People in June, he said about his fandom, “I grew up three hours south of Chicago – it was always a journey to come up and we’d plan trips around it. Then I went to college in the suburbs for my first year so I spent a lot of time in the city and man, it’s like my second home. I’ve been a lifelong Cubs fan.” Eldredge even filmed his music video for “Wanna Be That Song” at Wrigley Field.

In that case, the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan should give Eldredge a pass.
