While some people may think that getting a gift card as a present isn’t all that exciting, that’s not stopping people from giving them. In fact, it seems most people will probably be giving gift cards out this holiday season.
A new poll finds that 95% of consumers say they’ll likely give two or more gift cards this year, with 67% saying they’ll hand out at least five. Those numbers are actually big increases from last year, where 92% gave out at least two, and 54% gave out more than five.
And don’t be surprised if there’s a little envelope under your Christmas tree instead of a big box, because the survey found that Christmas is the most popular holiday for gift cards, with 87% of consumers planning to give one out this year. But it isn’t just limited to Christmas. In fact, 28% of Millennials say they’ll hand out gift cards for the New Year’s holiday, while 10% of people say they’ve thought about giving out gift cards on Halloween.
