Four-Day Detroit BMI Songwriter Series Brings Musical Energy to the Motor City

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) To bring music to venues across the Motor City, CBS Radio is unveiling a four-day Detroit BMI Singer Songwriter Series that will span Detroit musical hot spots Wednesday, Oct. 19 through Saturday, Oct. 22.


Headliners include Hunter Hayes, LoCash, Brett Young, Uncle Kracker, Jacob Whitesides, Tinashe and more. Legendary songwriters Casey Beathard, Wendell Mobley, Michael Ray, Jerrod Niemann and Joe Nichols will also highlight the series.

Come on down, get a taste of Detroit nightlife, stop into your favorite music venue and get whisked away by intimate acoustic performances from artists who penned some of music’s favorite songs. From Motown classics to today’s biggest pop and country hits, every genre of music will be represented.

The festivities will culminate with a main event at the Fox Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 22, with a show that pays tribute to Barrett Strong, Motown’s first artist to record a hit for the record company and a storied songwriter.

His songwriting hits include the smoky sweet classic sounds of “Can’t Get Next To You” “Just My Imagination” “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” and “I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” among many others.

Admission is free to the public at Hockeytown Cafe and a nominal fee ($5) will be charged day-of-show at Hard Rock Cafe.

Dedicated to music and those who create it, the Detroit BMI Singer Songwriter Series will introduce Motor City’s music fans to the faces, voices and stories behind their favorite songs though unique and up-close showcases.
