Ellen DeGeneres and Carrie Underwood are old friends, going back to the singer’s American Idol days.
So, when DeGeneres invited Underwood to be a guest on her daytime talk show on Friday, the two took a trip down memory lane.
“This is your 10th appearance on the show. It’s less than one a year, so we’ve missed you on a couple shows. But 10 appearances on the show, that’s [a big deal],” DeGeneres said. “The first appearance on the show—do you remember it?”
“We were babes—just little babes,” Underwood replied. “Right after Idol I was on it.”
DeGeneres then commented how quickly time has passed.
“I feel like I should give you a gift of some sort,” she told the singer. “I don’t know what it should be, but…”
Then, on cue, a man wearing Mike Fisher’s hockey jersey sprung from DeGeneres’ side table, causing Underwood to let out a bloodcurdling scream.
“Ahh! Oh, my gosh! Come on!”
