While some people may not be the biggest fans of Apple’s voice activated assitant Siri, some major upgrades are on the way that may make things a whole lot easier for folks. Apple will introduce a new mobile operating system, iOS 10, tomorrow, which will add some great new options to the digital assistant, which may bring in some new Siri fans.
Up until now, folks who used Siri, if they used it at all, could do things like get it to dial phone numbers for them, or maybe set reminders. Well, with the new upgrades, users will now be able to do things like dictate LinkedIn messages, book an Uber or Lyft ride, search photos on sites like Pinterest or Looklive, make phone calls using Skype, or even pay friends using Square Cash or Monzo.
While this may not seem like much, it can be a real convenience to users. Considering most have folks at least 30 apps on their phones, it will save them time since they’ll no longer have search for the app, open it, wait for it to load and then navigate through all the steps that it takes to complete their action.
So far, the improvements will only affect six areas for app developers – ride hailing, communications, voice calls, payments, photo search and workout apps – but Apple hopes to add more with later upgrades.
