Do Michiganders Have What it Takes to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse?

By: Jon Corrigan

Sure, Michigan is a great place to live – but is it where you want to be when the dead rise?

Estately.com mapped out which U.S. states would be the safest to live in during a zombie apocalypse.

To do this, they ranked each state from 1 to 50 using the following five criteria (averaging out the results to create the final ranking):

• Fewest people per square mile
• Gun owners per capita
• Percentage who are cremated instead of buried
• Percentage of population that is physically active
• Interest in the zombie media genre

Michigan ranked 26th overall – not terrible, not ideal.

Alaska, Idaho and Montana topped the list, with Virginia, Rhode Island and New York rounding out the bottom.
