American Idol Winner Trent Harmon’s “There’s A Girl” Is Based On Real Life

American Idol champ Trent Harmon is out with his very first single, “There’s A Girl,” which he says was inspired by a road trip he took to see a girl who rejected him.

But don’t expect to hear such a sad story when listening to the tune. Trent tells “Rolling Stone Country” that when he and his co-writers Laura Veltz and Jimmy Robbins sat down to pen the sad ending it “just didn’t work out.”

He shares, “the song took its own life and ended up being a happy song — which is even better.”
