Craig Morgan’s 19-year-old son, Jerry Greer, was reported missing on Sunday evening following a boating accident on Kentucky Lake in Humphreys County, Tennessee.
Following a substantial search and rescue effort, the teen’s body was discovered in the water on Monday.
Rob Edwards, the Chief Deputy from the Humphreys County Sheriff Office, broke down the incident.
“Jerry and another man were on a raft being pulled by a boat. They were thrown from the raft and Jerry never resurfaced. He was wearing a life jacket at the time but went under. We are currently searching for him with several boats. We will update you once we know more,” Edwards said. “The Tennessee Wildlife Recourses Agency is conducting the investigation as to what happened that led up to these events.”
A family representative of Morgan and wife Karen Greer released a statement to E! News.
“It is with deep sadness that I am confirming the passing of Jerry Greer (19), son of country music entertainer Craig Morgan and wife Karen Greer. The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department recovered his body this evening after a search that began Sunday following a boating accident on Kentucky Lake in Tennessee. A 2016 graduate of Dickson County High School, Jerry planned to play football for Marshall University in the fall.”
