Joey Chesnut Breaks Record And Regains Title At Hot Dog Eating Contest

Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is once again the hot dog-eating champ. At the annual Fourth of July hot dog-eating contest at Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island on Monday, Chestnut woofed down 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to take back the Mustard Yellow International Belt and set a new record at the event.

The 32-year-old Chestnut beat last year’s champ, Matt “Megatoad” Stonie, by 17 dogs. Stonie had ended Chestnut’s eight-year winning streak last year in an upset, but this time the only upset was likely their stomachs.

Chestnut previous set the world record by eating 69 dogs and buns in 10 minutes and last month he set a new record by downing 73-and-half dogs and buns in a qualifying event.
