Kenny Chesney Mistakenly Announces Death Of Police Officer; Officer Still Alive

Officer Christopher Dorman was supposed to be at Kenny Chesney‘s Spread The Love tour stop in Philadelphia on Saturday. But he was shot seven times on Friday morning and was unable to attend.

The officer did, however, record a video from his hospital bed, thanking his fellow police officers, the paramedics and doctors. At the end of the video, he threw in, “Hey, Kenny, don’t forget me!” The country star caught wind of the video shortly before stepping on stage that night. In an emotional moment, Kenny shouted out Officer Dorman, but he mistakenly told the audience he had passed away from his injuries.

After realizing his mistake, Kenny released a statement and picked up the phone on Sunday, calling Officer Dorman personally, apologizing for his error. The two chatted for a few minutes and Kenny even invited him to join him at an Eagles football game, which Kenny later documented in a tweet.
