Two Metro Detroit Cities Rank Among America’s Best for Retirement

By: Jon Corrigan

It’s never too early to start planning for retirement, and, according to a new study, Metro Detroit is a prime spot to spend your golden years.

Zippia.com analyzed every city in the country in terms of low cost of living, low crime, the most things to do (as measured by population density) and how close they are to an international airport to rank the best cities in America to retire.

And, somewhat shockingly, both Sterling Heights and Warren made the top five.

1. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
2. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
3. Sterling Heights, Michigan
4. Warren, Michigan
5. Aurora, Illinois
6. Carrollton, Texas
7. Miramar, Florida
8. Pembroke Pines, Florida
9. Miami Gardens, Florida
10. Norwalk, California
