Maren Morris can’t be disappointed with how her debut album “Hero” is doing. The record debuted at number one on the Billboard Country Album chart, moving 45,000 equivalent album units. As we previously told you, those sales were enough to land her at number five in the all-genre “Billboard” 200.
“I am still in shock at the response to ‘Hero,’” Maren tells “Billboard”. “This album is everything I had envisioned when I first thought about making a full record. I couldn’t be more proud, and I’m so grateful.”
“Hero” is now the fist debut album to land at number one on the country chart this year, with the last being Sam Hunt’s “Montevallo” back in 2014. Maren is also the first artist in the history of her label Columbia Nashville to debut at number one in the Soundscan era.
Meanwhile, coming in at number two on the Country Album chart is the latest from Dan+Shay, “Obsessed,” which moved 33,000 equivalent album units this week.
