On This Day In Country Music History:

1932Loretta Lynn is born in Butcher Holler, Kentucky.

1958 – “Oh Lonesome Me” by Don Gibson earns the #1 mark on the Billboard country chart.

1964Stuart Duncan is born in Quantico, Virginia. You can hear his fiddle on several country hits, including Faith Hill’s “Breathe,” The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young” and Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!“.

1979 – Barbara Mandrell’s cover of “(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don’t Want To Be Right” tops the Billboard country chart.

1981 – Hank Williams Jr. records “A Country Boy Can Survive“.

1986 – Alabama is awarded their 5th straight Entertainer of the Year award at the 21st annual Academy of Country Music awards. They also won their 6th straight Top Vocal Group Award.

1997 – The website country.com is officially launched, later becoming CMT.com.

1998Shania Twain appears on “Vh1: Diva’s Live”. She joined Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Gloria Estefan and Carole King. All six artist collaborated to sing “Natural Woman (You Make Me Feel Like)”.

2008 – The CMT show, “Can You Duet” premiere’s. Launching the career of Joey+Rory.

2008 – At the CMT Awards in Nashville, Kellie Pickler nets 3 trophies.

2012Dave Haywood, of Lady Antebellum, gets married to Kelli Cashiola in Ashland City, Tennesee. Charles Kelly and Hillary Scott attend.
