Fans who buy Keith Urban’s upcoming album, “Ripcord,” may be a little shocked by at least one song on it. Keith reveals to Rolling Stone that the tune “Sun Don’t Let Me Down,” a collaboration with Nile Rodgers and producer Mike Busbee, features a rap verse by Pitbull.
Why? Keith explains, “He brings a mischievous, sexy swagger to it, in a very different way.” Keith goes on to say that the tune was partly inspired by one of his wife Nicole Kidman’s movies.
“In the end of the first verse, it actually references my wife,” Keith says. “She’s in a movie called ‘To Die For’ and in one scene she’s dancing in front of the headlights. So the lyric goes: ‘There in the headlights, dancing like she’s in a movie scene. To die for, and she’s killing me.'”
Keith’s “Ripcord” is set to drop May 6th.
ONE MORE THING! Keith will be releasing a third single from “Ripcord” today, the tune “Wasted Time.” Keith will also perform the single for the first time on Thursday’s episode of “American Idol.”
