Over 50% of parents admit they have secretly went through their kids cell phone, looking at private messages and more. Maybe snooping is not such a bad idea, since half these parents were SHOCKED at what they found!
It’s getting harder to keep your children safe in this ever-changing digital world we live in. Unless you are super computer and tech-savvy, controlling what your kids have access to on the internet and their ‘smartphone’ seems nearly impossible. We can talk until we are blue in the face, warn the kids what ‘not to do,’ but kids will be kids and they will break rules and make mistakes. I personally think that if you have a young child who has a smartphone or computer, it’s your job to do your best to protect them, even if it means snooping to see for yourself if they are obeying your rules. YOU are paying for the phone and internet access, so it’s YOUR phone that let your child use….in my opinion anyway!
Half of parents with young children have admitted to secretly going through their kids’ phone. A quarter were “shocked” by what they found after reading emails, Facebook posts and instant messages.
The top things that bothered parents:
Conversations using bad language
Topics discussing inappropriate content
A child being bullied or spoken to badly
Groups of young children excluding others
A child bullying others
