Just about the time when your kids start pushing you away is actually the time that they need you the most!
As parents, we need to be resourceful and outsmart the kids when they become teenagers and start thinking they don’t need us or we aren’t cool anymore!
Maybe your kids grunt or give you a one word answer when you ask them the question, “How was your day?” If that is already happening in your home, Here’s a cool way to make daily family conversations a game, and get the older kids to really talk to us!
Sitting at the dinner table every night is probably the best place to start a new tradition with the kids by playing “High, Low, High!”
“High, low, high” encourages storytelling because each person in the family — including mom and dad — has to tell one high from the day, one low from the day, and another high for the day (to end on a positive note).
What other strategies have you used that have worked in encouraging your kids to share?
