You may be able to fool friends and family with that fake smile, but your phone can tell if are depressed. And there’s not an app to fix it either, it’s up to YOU!
Behavioral data that can be collected by your smartphone, such as how many minutes you spend using the device, how much time you spend away from home and how well you stick to your daily schedule, can give a pretty accurate picture of your mental state.
The average daily phone usage, excluding actual calls, for depressed individuals was about 68 minutes as compared to 17 minutes in those who were not depressed.
The more time people spend on the phone, the more likely they are to show symptoms of depression.
Makes sense to me big time, as I think that the more we rely on a phone, the more anti-social we are becoming overall. I have a hard time convincing my own family to put the dang phone down and talk to one another, instead of checking Facebook or Twitter or YouTube.
