The key to losing weight could be as simple as stepping on the scales each day. Men and women who weigh themselves daily lose three times as much weight as other dieters. After gaining 60 pounds when I had my daughter, and the 5 years it took to take all that extra weight off…I have a secret to maintaining my weight too!
FYI: Studies say that those who weighed themselves seven days a week shed almost 14 and a half pounds in six months. It is thought that daily weigh-ins help you better keep track of your weight. It also allows you to take action immediately if the dial starts to creep up again.
My secret to maintaining my weight and NOT gaining the 60 pounds I lost years ago, is to have ONLY one size of clothing. I used to have ‘fat clothes‘ in a size or two larger ‘just in case‘ I gained weight. But that seemed to ‘allow’ me to gain weight. But for the past 10 years, I now have only ONE size clothes and when they start getting tight, I push myself away from the dinner plate and limit my sweet tooth cravings. When your jeans are TIGHT, its way easier to pass on second helpings of your favorite foods and no ice cream before bed!
I love to eat, and love ice cream and chocolate, my 2 major dietary downfalls! And even though obesity runs in my family and I can EASILY gain 10-15 pounds over the holidays in the winter, I find it much easier to stay within my ideal weight boundaries by sticking to one size clothes and wearing the super tight jeans which gives me the incentive to eat less, when my weight starts creeping up!
