A controversial new TV series, ‘The Slap,’ premiere’s tonight at 8pm on NBC. The promo video shows the shocking, pivotal moment on which the series is based upon, where a group of family & friends attend a birthday BBQ and it’s all good until an unruly little boy with a baseball bat, kicks an adult who then slaps the boy, who is not his child. This eight-episode drama was inspired by the novel by Christos Tsiolkas, which was also turned into a miniseries in Australia. The clip starts out showing a seemingly normal family gathered together for Hector’s 40th birthday celebration. Hector’s cousin Harry, portrayed by Zachary Quinto, makes a toast. He says, “To my cousin, the last good man in America.” Simultaneously, scenes flash by of Hector carrying on an affair with his wife’s teenage receptionist. The clip ends with Harry furiously yanking a baseball bat from a small boy at the party and slapping him.
