The Nashville music community has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! We’ve got some stars’ top Thanksgiving memories, blessings and dishes.
Jake Owen shares what he’s thankful for this Thanksgiving. “I have a lot to be thankful for: the health of my father that beat cancer this past year, my daughter who’s healthy, and you know, my wife and my family. We made a lot of fans, made a lot of people happy and smile — I have a lot to be thankful for, and I’m constantly sayin’ my thanks for that.”
Josh Turner says Thanksgiving is his time to catch up on family time and football. “Like I say, it’s a fun time to get together with family and watch football and eat some good food and just enjoy the weather and the downtime, so it’s a fun holiday for me.”
Tim McGraw says he tries to have a beach Thanksgiving every year. “I guess one of our traditions is trying to go to the beach. That’s kinda one of our traditions, but we try to spend a lotta time with Faith’s parents too ‘cause they’re gettin’ older and we want our kids to really hang out with those guys a lot.
Kip Moore talks about his Thanksgiving with family. “When I get together with them, it means a whole lot to me. Usually, we’ll try to go fishing together – me and my brothers, or my dad, we used to always go when we would go back home for Thanksgiving. So, yeah, just time to get to hang out with them is huge for me, and I hate that I don’t get to do it more.”
Hunter Hayes his grandmothers go all out for Thanksgiving. “Both my grandmothers are excellent cooks. One in particular will cook for days for this meal, and it is epic. If I want to impress any of my friends and let them get to know my family, this is meal I take them to, like, ‘Hey! You’ve got to come over for Thanksgiving just to hang out for a bit.’”
Darius Rucker says he’s thankful for his family. “My favorite part of Thanksgiving is easy – it’s food. It’s eating. It’s hanging out with family and getting some great food, ‘cause that’s really what Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving is about giving thanks for all of the great things you’ve got, and I always give thanks for the greatest thing I’ve got and that’s my family.”
Keith Urban says he’s thankful for his happy marriage and family. “Thankful that, well, my marriage is just, it’s life-giving, not just life-changing, it’s been life-giving for me. And from there, we created life, and that’s just beautiful, absolutely beautiful. And the effect that all of that has had in my work, has given life to it too, given it a sense of purpose.”
Eric Church says he’s thankful for his fans and family. “I’m thankful for the people out there that care enough to sometimes whether they’re buying a record or buying a ticket, they may forego their mortgage payment that month. We’ve played Buffalo not too long ago. And I had fans come up and said, ‘You know, I really didn’t have money to buy this ticket, but we’re not going to miss this show.’ And that’s a humbling, you know, and I’m thankful for those people.”
