With baseball season under way, I can’t help but watching one of the all time greats, Major League. Come on, you know you love this movie and how awesome Charlie Sheen is in it as bad boy pitcher, Rick Vaughn. Well, Major League turns 25 this year, and here are a few facts about the movie you might now know.
Charlie Sheen actually took steroids for the his role as a major league pitcher! It took Charlie 6 to 8 weeks of steroids to get him self into show to be able to throw over 100 pitches a day! That was actually Charlie pitching in the movie, not a stunt double.
Dennis Haysbert, that guy from the Allstate commercials, played the power hitting Pedro Cerrano. Pedro was known for hitting some major home runs in the movie. And just like Charlie, Dennis did his own ball playing in the movie! With Dennis being such an athlete, he was called upon to actually hit some home runs, and he did!
Willie Mays Hayes never actually throws the ball the entire movie! That’s because Wesley Snipes couldn’t actually throw a baseball. Well, at least he couldn’t throw it that well. But he was such an athlete, he was able to do the other stuff to make it look like he knew how to play ball!
Last fact is this is my favorite scene. Hey, it’s a fact that I like it:
