Blake Shelton is knocking at Number One again with his latest hit, “Doin’ What She Likes.” His current album, Based On A True Story . . . has already produced three consecutive chart-toppers, but Blake says it’s not because he’s so skilled at picking the best singles.
He tells The Dr. Don Show with Rachael and Grunwald the key to his success at radio has been listening to his fans. “You just kind of go with what the fans are saying. That’s the fun thing about once the album’s out there. I think fans start kind of showing you what they love, and I want to do what the fans love. I don’t have . . . Back in my 20s, I got that out of my system of trying to, ‘By God, it’s gonna be my way and . . . ‘ I love to just record songs and keep the fans excited about it because as long as they’re excited I get to keep singing and making records that are fun for me. Once I’ve cut ’em, I don’t care which ones they put out there cause every song I put on a record are ones that I 150-percent believe in.”
