ROYAL OAK (WYCD) He may love women his momma can’t stand, but Jerrod Niemann is fundamentally a nice guy.
How nice? So nice he couldn’t judge a talent competition like “American Idol,” because, as he revealed to WYCD’s Linda Lee, he couldn’t stand to criticize aspiring singers.
“I couldn’t really give anybody bad scores,” Niemann said, before taking the stage Wednesday night at WYCD’s Ten Man Jam. “Music is all about your opinion, there really is no right and wrong, so for me I just don’t feel like I’m the guy who tells someone that what they’ve spent a lot of time on and worked hard for, sucks.”
Niemann, engaged last fall, is planning an October wedding. So, how did he propose? He revealed he wanted to do something special so he planned to propose on a horse-drawn carriage in New Orleans. But she wouldn’t go, saying she didn’t like to see horses outside of pastures.
He had to propose on the fly, and luckily, she accepted. Who says nice guys don’t win?
Niemann has co-written songs for Garth Brooks and other artists. His third album “High Noon” will be released in March.
