See The Beautiful Memorial Monument ‘In Loving Memory’ Of George Jones

The wife of country music legend George Jones unveiled his beautiful memorial monument in Nashville, with Joe Diffie and producer and family friend Buddy Cannon at her side.  Nancy Jones presided over a touching graveside ceremony in honor of her late husband and also announced the creation of a new scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University which will help students pursue their musical and creative dreams.

“I am thrilled that we will be able to help people in the name of George Jones,” Nancy said in a speech at the event. “George would have liked the fact that MTSU attracts so many first-generation college students, as well as students who face financial challenges. Like George, they are hard-working folks who are determined to make their dreams a reality.”

Nancy said that she and George had discussed this scholarship idea before he passed. She also said that she will make the first donation to the fund.

Thousands of country music fans and more than a hundred acts will be in Nashville this week,  to honor George at Friday’s Playin’ Possum! The Final No Show, a tribute concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. While the list of performers is far too long to list them all, among those scheduled to perform include George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Kid Rock, Martina McBride and Alan Jackson.

In case you missed the AMAZING tribute to George Jones on the recent awards show, (which I personally bawled my eyes out as I watched it the first time and again today), here is Alan Jackson and George Strait honoring The Possum with their rendition of  George’s ‘greatest country song of all time‘….“He Stopped Loving Her Today”
