Congratulations to Rodney Atkins, who announced he got married Sunday to his singer-songwriter girlfriend Rose Falcon. It was a small ceremony — just 20 people on the beach in Captiva Island, Florida. And one of those 20 people was Rodney’s son, Elijah, who was the best man.
But that wasn’t the only goosebumpy part of the ceremony. Did you know Rodney was adopted when he was an infant? Yeah, he spent his first few months in a home for children in East Tennessee. Well, the founder of that place, the Holston United Methodist Home for Children, is a guy named Charles Hutchins. And Charles is the guy who married Rodney and Rose on Sunday.
And there’s more — Rodney took time in the middle of the ceremony to give a nod to his adoptive parents’ 51st wedding anniversary. And Rodney gave his mom a three-carat aquamarine ring. No immediate plans for a honeymoon as Rodney and Rose have to get back on the road! Rodney’s next date is Saturday at a casino in North Carolina.
