With the new school year upon us, some kids are digging deep to find the motivation to get good grades. Often times, getting an “A” isn’t a big enough reward so some kids look towards mom and dad….and more specifically, they are looking towards their wallets! Is it OK to ‘bribe’ your kids with money or gifts to get good grades?
If you are thinking of bribing your children for good grades, experts say giving kids money or gifts for good grades can backfire. It can impact their motivation and creativity.
Still, many parents are firm believers in the practice. And truth be told, for a lot of kids, it works! When they have something they REALLY want, like a new video game, or money or whatever to work towards, it does give them more motivation to get better grades. What do you think?
