“Rocking Out For Ethan” – Special Benefit Concert This Saturday!

Hi. I’m Ethan. I am 12 years old and if you passed by me on the street, you would think I look like the typical kid. But, what you don’t know about me by looking at me is that my life is very different than most kids. I have a disease called Eosinophilic Esophagitis, or as I call it EE and I hope you can come to a special benefit concert to help find a CURE for EE on August 24th!

On Saturday August 24th a benefit concert will be held at New York New York to raise funds to help find a cure for the rare disease that Ethan has, called Eosinophilic Esophagitis.

When: Saturday August 24th

Time: 5:00pm – first band starts at 5:15pm

Where: New York New York – 33151 23 Mile Rd, Chesterfield, MI

What: A benefit concert to raise funds to find a cure for Eosinophilic Disease

Tickets: $10 at the door – all proceeds go to the CURED Foundation (a 100% not-for-profit)

The evening organized by Melinda, mother to Ethan, will have great music by local artists as well as some great raffle/auction items. This benefit is just one of many events to come. Melinda, her father Duane and her son Ethan also plan to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in July of 2014. Their end goal? To raise funds and awareness in finding a cure for Eosinophilic Disease. They aim to raise a combined total of $32,500 and the proceeds will go to the CURED Foundation (a 100% not-for-profit).

Ethan says of living with this disease:

Some days my EE does not even bother me. But other days, I am in so much pain in my stomach and throat that I can’t even eat anything, I don’t want to get out of bed, or play with my friends. I just want the pain to go away! In order to monitor my EE, I have a surgical procedure called a scope every 3 months. If no cure is found, I might be faced with having to stop eating all together. Can you imagine that? NO FOOD AT ALL? I would go on an Elemental Diet (formula only). Since it can be hard to drink the formula, lots of people choose to get a feeding tube. But I have HOPE!
