Kid Rock brought the party to DTE Energy Music Theatre the past weekend, as he played 3 consecutive sold out shows. Rock will ultimately perform 8 sold out show, matching a 35 year record set by Bob Seger. Seger has held the record since 1978.
The crowds were high energy and ready to party. Fans began tailgating well before doors opened at each show and inside the venue, beer flowed cold and at reduced costs. Kid Rock’s American Badass Beer made it’s return and was made available to concert goers for $4 for a small draft.
Kid Rock wasn’t the only man on the bill for the weekend. ZZ Top warmed crowds up as the parking lots cleared out before the show, with synchronized guitar swaying favorites like “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs.”
A giant $20 bill curtain hung across the stage each night, an obvious nod to the low ticket costs for fans. As soon as it dropped, sparks flew and Kid Rock blasted on to stage. Tossing the mic through the air and jumping on stage, Rock moved through fan favorites like “Devil Without a Cause,” “Celebrate” and “American Bad Ass.”
On opening night, he recognized some of those in attendance who were new to the his show and liked his songs like “Picture” and “All Summer Long.” He decided to ease them in to with an updated version of “MFLM (Mother****** Like Me).”
Kid Rock now has a few days off to rest before returning to the stage, Wednesday August 14th. His eight show stint wraps up August 20th and has fans hoping that Bob Seger may show up to perform with Rock.
