Newcomer Brett Eldredge is getting very close to the Number One spot on the country charts — a little too close for Brett’s comfort, actually — with his second single, “Don’t Ya.” Brett made a friendly bet with some folks in his camp that might just force him to face his biggest fear if, ironically, he meets his biggest career goal so far.
Brett tells The Dr. Don Show with Rachael and Grunwald, “When I first put out ‘Don’t Ya,’ before it even hit Number 50 on the charts, I had a bet with some of my friends and radio team and management and everything that if it goes to Number One, if we’re fortunate enough to get there, we’re going skydiving, and I’m freaked of heights. I mean, I’m absolutely petrified of heights. I don’t like ’em, but it’s actually a possibility. That possibility is kind of freaking me out, but I want to go skydiving. I mean, I think it’s worth having that shot. I’ll go. Why not? I mean, it usually goes pretty well for people (laughs) so I think it’s worth giving it a shot. Just as long as somebody pushes me out of the plane and I don’t have to pull the parachute, somebody else does it, let’s go get a Number One. That would be cool!”
“Don’t Ya” sits at Number Four on the charts. Brett’s debut album, Bring You Back, will be released on Tuesday (August 6th).
