Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel in Vancouver on Saturday (July 13th.) TMZ is reporting that hotel employees went to check on the actor when he didn’t check out on time and they found him in his room alone — “clearly deceased.”
A rep for the actor released a statement saying, “We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.” The coroner is still investigating the cause of death but foul play is not suspected.” The police are reporting that Cory hung out in his room with some friends on Friday (July 13th) before they all hit the town but he came back alone early in the morning. Monteith has always been open about his battle with addiction and had completed his most recent stint in rehab on April 26th.
Cory’s co-star and off-screen girlfriend Lea Michele released a statement through her rep saying, “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time. Thank you.” Glee’s producers and Fox execs posted a statement to the show’s Twitter account saying, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. Glee actor Matthew Morrison performed a concert in NYC where he dedicated the song “What I Did For Love” to his deceased co-star whom he called his brother.
