Jason Aldean Files For Divorce

Rumors swirled last week that Jason Aldean and high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery had separated. News came yesterday that proved the speculation to be not far off.

People confirmed yesterday (April 29) that after 12 years of marriage, Aldean and his wife Ussery filed for a divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee. The couple has two children together.

“This is a really tough time for my entire family. Jessica and I have been together since we were teenagers. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs over the years as we grew up together as a couple,” Aldean told People in a statement. “She will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children, and I know that we will both always make our daughters our number one priority.”

A day earlier Aldean’s rep told People that the “1994″ singer and his wife were having problems.

“It’s a private family matter, and we hope everyone will respect that he would like to keep it that way,” his rep told the magazine.

The divorce comes months after Aldean was caught getting cozy with American Idol contestant and Charlotte Bobcats cheerleader Brittany Kerr. After photos emerged, Aldean issued an issued an apology. It read:

Hey Guys – I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites. The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that’s the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I’m not perfect, and I’m sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support.
