Watch the brand new video here…
You might recognize some of the cast members from Duck Dynasty who are among some other familiar faces in the video, where Darius becomes somewhat of a ‘time traveler.’ Here is the brand new “Wagon Wheel” music video by former Hootie & The Blowfish frontman, Darius Rucker.
This song was originally written by Bob Dylan and later finished by Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, and Rucker says that he decided to record his version of the song, with duet partner Charles Kelly from Lady A, after watching his daughter’s high school talent show.
Darius Rucker tells The Boot how recording this song actually came about:
“We were watching my daughter, and the faculty band gets up. It’s just the faculty from her school, and they play ‘Wagon Wheel.’ I’m sitting in the audience, and they get to the middle of the chorus, and I turned to my wife, and I go, ‘I’ve got to cut this song.’ I’m serious. This all happened in three-and-a-half minutes, four minutes, while they’re playing the song.”
Darius also revealed to The Boot that his family loves “Duck Dynasty”and it is the ‘one show they all often watch together.’ When the family got wind that he had enlisted the cast of their favorite show to appear in his video, they were not happy when they were told they could not be on the set during the filming of the video:
“My kids are angry at me right now, when I told them they weren’t coming these two days, when I told them [the cast was] coming and they couldn’t come, my middle daughter is still not talking to me. She wouldn’t talk to me on the phone last night. [laughs] But … it’s my favorite show. I tweeted the other day that it’s my new ‘Monday Night Football.’ It’s the show I wait for all week.”
