The cost for a high school senior to go to their prom seems to have sky-rocketed! It also seems to be a competition of sorts, with some parent shelling out thousands of dollars on a dress alone, making those who cannot afford such extravagance feel like a ‘have not.’ It does not have to be that way, and you can save a lot of money, and still look like a million bucks. Check out the average cost of prom today….

Prom is expensive. While prom costs vary from state to state, community to community, Promgirl.com says the big night generally can cost anywhere from $175 to $2,100. For example:

Tickets — $20 to $250

Pre-prom dinner — $25 to $130

Hair, makeup, etc. — $30 to $275

Gown — $100 to $400

Photo — $30 to $125

Limo — $200 to $500
