It was just announced today that 99.5 WYCD has won an ACM Award for Major Market Radio Station of the year! First and foremost we thank all of you for the honor to represent you as the Major Market Station of the Year! Without our listener friends and family we would just be another station! We appreciate you and share with you this honor!
WYCD Program Director Tim Roberts called in live from Nashville and said he was “absolutely blown away to be considered the best of the best. There is so many great radio stations in American and to be considered the number one station in Country music, it is absolutely astounding. But it really is because of the greatest fans we have in the Motor City that have taken us to the top. Our fans are second to none and we thank you all.”
Assistant Program Director and Midday Host, Jack Shell said he is “humbled to part of the awesome team and to serve you (the fans) each day on this incredible radio station.” He added that it is because of the listeners “interacting with us, attending our shows, and supporting country music in the Motor City,” that WYCD won this award.
“WYCD is truly a station of the people,” said Afternoon Host Chuck Edwards, who was nominated for an ACM this year. “It’s a rush to live and breathe Detroit’s Country Station.”
The star-studded ACM Awards will be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 7, on CBS Television, which airs locally on CBS 62.
