Last Sad Song By Mindy McCready: “I’ll See You Yesterday”

The sad and tragic end of Mindy McCready‘s troubled life truly is heartbreaking. I could not help but think back to when I first met the aspiring country singer when she was just 20 years old and setting the country music world on fire with her beautiful voice, smoking hot looks and a bubbly personality that lit up the room! Hearing this last sad song, “I’ll See You Yesterday,” that was given to a trusted friend, is especially hard to listen to in light of her suicide over the weekend…

I really am so very sad, and my thoughts and prayers are with Mindy’s 2 little boys, Zander age 6, and Zayne, 9 months.

As I think back, it seems like it was just yesterday….I was Mindy McCready’s partner in a paint ball war with other “Young Country” employee’s back in the early 1990’s. We had dinner, drinks and a LOT of laughs over dinner at the Macaroni Grill in Northville, and I will never forget her hearty laugh and wicked sense of humor.  She was truly a sweet, funny and super beautiful girl who was well on her way to super-stardom, I was sure of that!  I had her autograph my CD, joking with her that I was sure that ‘it would be worth tons of money one day!’ She had just released “10,000 Angels” and shortly after that, released another big country hit “Guys Do It All The Time.” But sadly, it was not long before her personal life began to crumble.

“Ill See You Yesterday” was a song that a close friend says was originally  meant for her live-in boyfriend, David Wilson, who passed away about a month ago. While his cause of death is still under investigation, a spokesperson for Mindy said that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The song was written by Courtney Dashe and produced by Mindy’s live-in boyfriend David. The video was given to her trusted friend before the singer also ended her life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The video ends with a suicide prevention hotline.

A rep for Mindy McCready’s family released the following statement following her death at the age of 37:

It is with the deepest sadness we say goodbye to an extraordinary and gifted talent, a daughter, a mother and friend, Miss Mindy McCready.
Our attention at this time is devoted to the needs and care of Mindy’s family. As Mindy spent much of her life in the public eye, we respectfully request your consideration and sensitivity to enable friends and family this time of “quiet.” To complement formal family arrangements, preliminary plans are being made by Mindy’s “friends in music” to organize a memorial in Nashville in the coming days. We will pass along updates and information surrounding details, as they are officiated by both family and friends.
