Dierks Bentley Suprises Fan With ACM Invite
Meet Kayla Slone: Walmart cashier by day, hardcore Dierks Bentley fan and aspiring country music singer by night.
Kayla was recently discovered singing the Dolly Parton classic “Coat Of Many Colors” while at her register at a local West Virginia Walmart. On January 24th a customer posted a video on Facebook of “Some girl at Logan Walmart who can sing awesome love it!!!” As of today, the video has nearly 10,000 shares.
Bentley got wind of the video and after watching was so impressed that, with Anderson Cooper’s help, decided to surprise her.
While making an appearance on Anderson Live, Slone received a call from the “Tip It On Back” singer himself and Bentley extended an invitation to Kayla to be a special guest at the upcoming ACM Awards in Las Vegas.
During the surprise call, Bentley told Kayla how much he loves her voice and her singing. “We need to get together and sing. Such a great story, really inspiring. I really enjoyed listening to you sing.”
“Well come get me!” Slone said.
Since this was Kayla’s first trip to New York City, Dierks snuck in the invite by saying, “Maybe your first trip to Las Vegas you can come to the Country Music Awards?”
Bentley will be giving her and a guest the VIP treatment, parties and all.
Kayla’s husband is a coal miner, which she admits is a dangerous job. Slone wants her dream of becoming a big country music singer to come true, in order to “take care of him,” so he no longer has to work the mines. With the help of Bentley’s VIP treatment at this year’s ACM Awards she just might get that wish.
