The top 10 Google searches of 2012 may or may not surprise you!  According to our CBS affiliate CNET, here is the list!

10. BBB12

This one is a little confusing, for those who are not bi-lingual, however the top search for this term leads to Big Brother Brazil.

9. Michael Clarke Duncan

Best known for his role in The Green Mile, Duncan passed away unexpectedly of a massive heart attack at age 54 on September 3rd.

8. Amanda Todd

The 16 year old Canadian teenager who sadly became famous after committing suicide this past October, but not before she posted a YouTube video telling of her experiences of being bullied, abused and blackmailed.

7. 2012 Olympics

The 2012 Summer Olympics began in London on July 27th and commenced on August 12th.

6. Kate Middleton

The Royal Family announced in early December that Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William and now the The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant and was admitted and discharged from the hospital for acute morning sickness. This is the first child for the newlyweds and regardless of whether it is a boy or girl, the child will take his or her rightful place in line to the throne, which incidentally, knocks Prince Harry down a notch.

5. Diablo 3

Must be a gamer thing. According to wikipedia, “Diablo III is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Diablo franchise that features elements of the dungeon crawl and hack and slash genres.” Released in May of this year, it is the most pre-ordered game to date on amazon.com.

4. iPad 3

Apple released the iPad 3 in March of this year and then to the dismay of many infuriated buyers, released a 4th generation iPad in November. iPad 3 makes #4 on this list in all probability due to customers searching for an answer on which iPad to buy, or how to return the 3rd generation, so quickly obsolete.

3. Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy devastated the entire eastern seaboard in late October, causing severe damage particularly in New York and New Jersey. Estimates of cost of damages to U.S. are over $63 billion. See photos.

2. Gangnam Style

With an obscene number of YouTube views (937+ million at this writing), it’s no surprise Korean pop singer PSY’s “Gangnam Style” is taking the #2 spot. Parody videos and “Gangnam Style” celebrations are popping up all over and going viral, from colleges to Christmas light displays to a former Wyoming Senator! It’s even gone to the dogs! If you are one of the few who has not yet seen the official video, here you go:

1. Whitney Houston

Grammy Award winning superstar Whitney Houston died on February 11th at the age of 48. During her career she won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and 22 American Music Awards. She had the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts and has sold 200 million albums world wide.

The “I Will Always Love You” singer’s passing was deeply felt by many artists worldwide, including Country artists who reacted on the Twitterverse. Whitney was honored with a moving tribute at the GRAMMY awards by pop artist Jennifer Hudson.
