The Who, Johnny Cash Tribute Added To Grammy Nominations Concert

The Who have been added as a performer at next Wednesday’s live Grammy nominations concert, it was announced today. The classic rockers, who received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001, will carve out a bit of time for the Academy amidst their Quadrophenia Tour. In fact, The Who will play NYC’s Madison Square Garden on the night of the nominations concert, leading us to believe the TV special will do a live broadcast from the concert.

Additionally, country stars Hunter HayesDierks Bentley and The Band Perry have been added to the bill, with Dierks and Band Perry performing together in a tribute to music icon Johnny Cash.

Officially titled The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night, the one-hour special airs Wednesday, Dec. 5 at at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. The event is taking place for the first time in Nashville (and tickets are still available).

The Who and the rest join a list of previously-announced performers that includes Luke Bryan, fun., Maroon 5 and Ne-Yo. The evening will be co-hosted this year by Taylor Swift and LL Cool J.

This is the fifth year the Grammy nominations have been announced live on a primetime TV special — one that is quickly becoming a major event in itself.

The 55th annual Grammy award ceremony itself takes place in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, and that event, too, will be broadcast on CBS.
