If you are a fan of the Star Trek franchise, or a Trekkie, then grab your Vulcan ears and phasers and get ready for Star Trek Into The Darkness! The first nine minutes of the new movie, directed by J.J. Abrams, will be shown before the start of the new Peter Jackson prequel trilogy to Lord of the Rings, Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Star Trek Into The Darkness is the sequel to 2009 Star Trek. J.J. Abrams is back behind the camera to bring you Capt. James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock and the rest of the beloved cast. Star Trek Into The Darkness was filmed using the latest in IMAX Technology. The IMAX footage brings the viewer right into the action. Not to mention it’s in IMAX 3D! This is the first time that exclusive footage has been used in IMAX 3D and only the third time a “first-look” will be shown in IMAX.
Many, if not all of the original cast will be in the second film. J.J Abrams says that the film will not be so much a sequel as it will be a stand alone movie with the original cast from the first Trek movie. Chris Pine will return as Capt. James T. Kirk. Zachary Quinto will reprise his role as Spock, as will Simon Pegg as Scotty, Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy a.k.a. Bones, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, John Cho as Mr. Sulu and Anton Yelchin as Chekov.
