I always loved Halloween and trick or treating was the highlight of my year when I was a kid! We would fill a pillowcase at least twice, running through our subdivision in Westland trying to get as much candy as possible! And when my daughter was little, she was not nearly as interested in ‘filling a pillowcase’ as I was at her age, but I still love candy and would bribe her to ‘just go down one more street’ before we called it a night! Like treats snatched from a trick-or-treat bag, adults like me have slowly been stealing Halloween from kids for years. Now it appears, grown-ups own the holiday!
A record $8 billion will be spent by U.S. consumers this Halloween — most of it by adults, for adults. Seven years ago, when the National Retail Federation asked adults if they, themselves, planned to celebrate Halloween, 52.5% said yes. This year, it’s 71.5%.
My sister has an off the hook Halloween party every year, and each year she has a different theme, so my husband and I have to buy or make new costumes every year! This year it was “Entertainers Dead or Alive” so we went as Dolly Parton & Willie Nelson! We took home ‘1st Place for Best Costume‘ too, which was pretty cool, since there were so many awesome people there with so many awesome costumes too! Click HERE to see all the pics from the party!
Do you plan on participating in Halloween this year? Why? Why not?
