A Fifth of Jack: Meeting The Stars

Welcome to another edition of A Fifth of Jack.  Many people tell me how jealous they are of my job and say “Wow, Jack… you’ve got it made.  You get to meet all the stars, you get to go to all the shows, you know about all the new music before anyone else.”  Yes, a lot of that is very true.  You know what else is true?  I’m taking the night off from tonight’s show to watch our Detroit Tigers attempt to clench the ALCS, and to run the board back at the station while Edwards & Lee broadcast live before the show.  Here’s the rest of THAT story… as the assistant to Big Boss Tim, I also assist in making the schedule.  I forgot to schedule a board operator, so I am taking the night off from the Jake Owen, Love & Theft, Florida-Georgia Line concert to run the broadcast… and I’m also using this time to talk to you.

So, the experience of meeting an artist can go either way… much like your interest in this blog.  Today, I met the new duo Florida-Georgia Line, who have a major hit single called “Cruise”.  Bryan and Tyler met at Nashville’s famed Belmont University and had developed an almost Manson-caliber cult-like following online before being signed to Republic Nashville.  Two great guys, who have got some serious hits on the forthcoming project which I hear will be released in December.  If you were at the concert, you know how great they sound and how their tunes just create feel-good, rowdy images in your mind.  I can’t wait for you to hear the rest of their project.   Perfect crank up on the lake music next summer for sure.

Sorry for the rambling blog here, but I’m multitasking.

What was the best experience you ever had meeting a singer?
