While in Grand Rapids, MI over the weekend, 99.5 WYCD’s Steve Grunwald caught up with his buddies Joe Don Rooney, Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus on Big Machine Record’s Outnumber Hunger bus at the Rascal Flatts ‘Changed’ Tour.

Of course, Grunwald’s upcoming trip to Africa (to deliver a cow for Brad Paisley to the Masai tribe) came up in conversation, and it seems that Rascal Flatts wanted to join the proverbial “band wagon.” They mentioned to Steve that they would also each like to have him deliver a cow to the Masai, and after a few interesting cow names were tossed in the ring, including Brad Paisley’s “Ticks,” and “Urban” for Keith Urban and “Rascal Flatts”  they decided the best names for each of their cows to be their own namesakes, Gary, Joe Don and Jay.  We’ll keep you updated on that request.

Though several cow names came up while talking with The Eli Young Band, the group agreed that it should be named “Crazy” Cow in honor of their song “Crazy Girl.” Of course that is instead of names like “Mad Cow.”

Other comments coming in from some of your favorite country music folks all started yesterday morning with an email to Steve Grunwald from Luke Bryan who wanted to know “Can I name an utter? Ha ha! Good Luck.”

Of course Jaron Lowenstein will “Pray For You” as he sends this tweet showing support:

Scott Borchetta, CEO Big Machine Label Group- “In the Malian city of Gao stands the Mausoleum of Askia the Great, a weird sixteenth century edifice that resembles a step pyramid. I somehow think this is an appropriate ‘edifice’ for you to visit.” We thought just in case some of you were curious what this ‘edifice’ looks like, see photo below.
