Incredible Olympic Amputee Athlete Makes History

There’s been so many memorable moments thus far in the London Olypmics, but the one that stands out the most to me is the incredible story of South African Olympian, Oscar Pistorius. While I was getting ready for the 99.5 WYCD Birthday Bash with Sugarland at DTE on Saturday I had the Olympics on and I just happened to pay attention right when they were featuring Oscar in his 400 Meter semi-finals race.

The man they call “Blade Runner” is a double amputee. He was born without his fibulas and had both legs amputated before he was one year old. Seeing him get ready to race with his carbon blade prosthetic legs was incredible. I didn’t know someone could even walk, let alone make Olympic history like that.

Recently my father’s friend Jeff lost his leg in a motorcycle accident and seeing Oscar Pistorius instantly reminded me of him. Jeff just got a new prosthetic leg and is beginning to walk like normal again. They both are an inspiration to anyone struggling with injuries and other medical problems.

Check out video of Oscar below!
