New research shows that more than one in 10 couples sleep in different bedrooms from each other in order to keep their relationship strong. In addition, a third of couples take separate vacations from one another and 39 percent of couples believe their relationship is healthier because they have independence in their home life. I don’t necessarily agree with the separate vacations thing….but maybe having your own room might not be such a bad idea for people like me and my husband! He gripes about me wanting to have a fan on all night, and I like to watch TV until I fall asleep…he wants total quietness….
On average, couples spend 22 hours together during the working week, with nearly half of all couples blaming hectic work schedules for a lack of ‘quality time’ together. And 44 percent of us think having separate hobbies makes for a stronger relationship. I like to do my own thing with girlfriends from time to time, and my husband has time alone with his buds too, and we are both totally cool with that. Most of the time we WANT to be together, as we enjoy most of our favorite things like fishing and boating together!
What is your philosophy on alone time and your marriage? Separate beds a good or bad idea?
