If you’ve ever watched MTV’s Jersey Shore you know the cast aren’t often wearing much clothing and they shouldn’t be. It’s summertime at the beach. At the real Jersey Shore a former council member is asking the city of Asbury Park to enforce a 40-year-old ordinance which forbids the wearing of bathing suits on the city’s boardwalk. Okay I can sort of understand having to cover up once you walk into some kind of establishment, but the boardwalk is basically still on the beach.
Louise Murray, a Republican chairwoman supports the ban saying, “I had my day, the window’s obviously closed, but even at my best day I never walked in a bar in a bathing suit. Do you really want to be sitting in a restaurant and seeing somebody come up half-dressed? The answer to your question Louise, is YES! When I’m on vacation at the beach, wherever it may be, I like Kenny Chesney’s idea; “No shoes, no shirt, no problems.” I don’t know about you, but when I’m in vacation mode there’s nothing better than walking straight from the beach in your suit, to the bar to get a drink or bite to eat without someone telling you to put your clothes on. If the weather’s right, I say leave it off!
Are you offended by people wearing their bathing suits in public?
