Chomping on gum all day long won’t just annoy those around you but it will also muck up your memory. Researchers at Cardiff University found that people who chewed gum had a harder time memorizing lists of letters and numbers than those who didn’t chew. This does not seem to make any sense at all to me, but…
Researchers believe that the motion involved in chewing impedes your brain’s ability to memorize lists. Just like tapping your finger or foot may distract you from accomplishing the same task, continual movements like gnawing on gum can also interfere with your short-term memory.
But most importantly, it annoys those with whom you work!
Who annoys the crap out of you by constantly chomping on chewing gum?
