Kenny Chesney has a new album out now. Welcome to the Fishbowl is Kenny’s 18th album and he couldn’t be happier. Kenny says, “You work so long in music and you record and I’ve got a song out that’s doing great right now called ‘Come Over.’”
He says that the name of the album came from one of his football buddies when they were down in Florida at a bar, “During the 4th of July, we always go down there to a place called the Red Bar. I love it man, right on the ocean and we went there at 4 o’clock in the afternoon and so people were coming up asking for autographs, which is great.” Kenny continues to say that the football players were shocked on how crazy is was. Kenny told them, “It’s not that crazy. People love music, they love what we do.” The football player told Kenny, “Well, welcome to the fishbowl I guess.” That’s when Kenny knew he had found the title of his next album.
Last week, Rachael Hunter reported that Tim McGraw was trying to fatten Kenny up with food. Kenny says, “He tried to fatten me up during rehearsal. We had about 4 or 5 days before our first show in Tampa and he would literally come in everyday with like a whole pie. There’s a place in Tennessee called GiGi’s cupcakes and he knows that my weakness is Red Velvet. He came in with a whole bunch of Red Velvet Cupcakes.” We asked him if he ate any of them, he said, “I didn’t eat them. I let the crew guys eat em.”
Kenny Chesney will be in Detroit at Ford Field on August 18th. Kenny says of the show at Ford Field, “It wouldn’t be a summer without playing at Ford Field it seems like, it’s crazy, I’m excited.” One of the thing that Kenny is known to do during his stadium tour stops is jump on his golf cart and cruise around the tailgate and have a drink or two with some of them. We asked Kenny if he planned to do this in Detroit and he asked, “Is the show on a Saturday or Sunday?” We tell him Saturday and he quickly says, “Well then you just might see me.”
