99.5 WYCD personality Rachael Hunter stepped on Chris Young‘s bus, backstage this past weekend at the Downtown Hoedown, to an ambiance of candles (minus the rose petals) which prompted her to ask Chris what his idea of romancing a woman is.
“First of all, reservations. If you go through the process of getting reservations for somewhere, she knows you actually thought about it, other than 5 minutes before you left.” He admits that men in general lack planning, “but if you go out of your way and make sure it’s somewhere special” that what counts.
Since Chris is busy on the road, currently on Miranda Lambert‘s ‘On Fire Tour,’ when he is at home, he doesn’t like to have a schedule. “Trust me, as much as I’m on the road, I like to fly by the seat of my pants a little bit.”
That’s probably why he tells us that he didn’t make any plans for his birthday, June 12th, but his best case scenario would be “hanging out with my buddies that I haven’t seen in awhile.”
So what does he do in his downtime? “I actually went fishing the other day.” If you follow @ChrisYoungMusic on twitter, you already see what he is up to most days. He comments that he is pretty good about keeping up on twitter, though he does have a dry spell from time to time.
Dude if it ain't me I'm never inviting you fishing again haha “@MarcMariani83: Most favorite county singer!!!?”—

It’s been a couple years since Chris Young has appeared at the Downtown Hoedown in Detroit, and as for Hoedown memories, he tells us, “I’d like to make some good ones today.”
He did make time to walk around the Home of the Detroit Tigers and says that “Comerica Park is beautiful” but does it compare to Wrigley Field where he played the previous night? “They’re both beautiful, but you know, Wrigley is historic.”
Speaking of historic, Chris speaks of Detroit fondly as he mentions the fact that there is “so much music history in Detroit, with the history of Motown, there is lots to do in Detroit.”
Nearing the end of the interview, Rachael revealed a rumor that she heard Chris likes to hit the casinos, and asked if he ever wins. “Allegedly, I frequent your casinos. Detroit is the only place I’ve lost money.” But with his success with hits like “Voices,” “Tomorrow,” “You,” and most recently “Neon,” it is suggested that he could ‘afford’ to hit the casinos. Chris laughs and says “I don’t want to give it back. I want to keep some of it. You don’t want to be reading about me ten years from now, like yeah, he’s broke. . .”
While we’re on the subject of gambling, find out what happens when Chris Young gets bored in Vegas.
